Hi my name is Henry Jacob, I am raising money to send 500 out of school children from 3 communities in Nigeria back to school.

About two years ago, I began volunteering during my National Youth Service  with Voluntary Service Overseas in rural communities, and when I was there, I made trips to 6 Local community areas, where met children from very poor families. For most of the children, they’ve never had basic education, while others had dropped out for different reason, most of it being financial reasons. We became good friends because I visited frequently and tried to create small inclusive learning spaces. We worked really hard at these learning spaces. After a year, I got my colleagues to send 80 children from these communities back to school. But still have 420 children who kept feeling worse seeing their friends in school.

Few months ago, I discovered a large number of these children have refused to attend these learning spaces and have engaged in street hawking, child labour, and a lot have been abused sexually. This is a problem. Basic education is important for children everywhere, and if they don’t get access to basic education with learning accessories, its watching a generation crumble. I feel heartbroken for these children, their families and communities where they live, especially after knowing I could raise morning for just few of their friends. I imagine how sad it feels if these children were my relatives.

The small inclusive learning spaces I have started have been able to impart some form of formal and informal to these children but this could only last as long as the team of community volunteers can carry.

I really want to save these children. I have spoken to my network of friends on how we could help these children and they said we could request for volunteer teachers to come teach at the spaces. So, we have sent out adverts for volunteers around the community and state.  We started at the beginning of the year, and since then, we have gotten good responses from volunteers! We even started a mentorship project for the children from other volunteers from different parts of the world to help send this provide accessible education to these children.

please help us make a dofference to these childrens lives!

The little you can provide us with is more than enough, the smallest amount can make a huge difference!
