This March 20th, a group of us will be taking on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for three charities. The Scottish Cot Death Trust, The Little Too Neonatal Fund and ourselves here at Henrys Hope. These charities have a personal connection to those taking part in the walk whether it be through an immediate or close family connection. If you'd like to make a donation towards the challenge please mark your donation with #yorkshirethreepeaks. all donations with this will be shared between the three charities
When Henry died in March 2017 we didn't know anyone who had lost a baby, through stillbirth or neonatal death. It wasn't until we visited our local SANDS group that we found people like us, going through what we are going through.
We found these groups so beneficial to our mental health. The regular 2 hour monthly slot to talk about how we have been coping and what we have been finding hard was a welcome release.
I think we found this group so helpful because of the environment that had been created by the befrienders and because of the other parents who attended being so easy to talk to, and we have definitely come away from the group with friends for life that we know we can always talk to.
After loosing our son Henry in 2017 at 4 Days old, we have found so much support from people in the same situation as us. Since moving too Barnsley we have found that there is no local groups for bereaved parents.
Together with other social media charities and local companies we aim to provide groups for parents who have experienced a bereavement, parents who have had pregnancies after loss and who are currently pregnant. and we would also like to extend to offer family support groups, we know with two older boys ourselves that they suffer from the bereavement too.
