Hepworth Feast Day Monday June 28th 2021
The Hepworth Feast is normally held on the last Monday of June each year and has taken place for hundreds of years; historically to commemorate the end of a plague in Hepworth and in more recent years to support the school(s) and village children. We were planning to continue this year but the announcement on 14th June means that most of the event has had to be cancelled.
However to commemorate the Feast and to remember villagers past and present we are planning that the United Sing with Hepworth Band will take place at 6.30pm to 7.15pm at Hepworth United Football Field. The band, hymn singers and visitors will be required to adhere to the current social distancing rules. There is ample space and parking at the football field.
In normal years, house-to-house prior to the Day, on the walk and during the Public Sing, the organisers ask the public for donations to support the costs of the School Feast Day. In addition to the costs of hiring Hepworth Band, insurance and prizes, the Hepworth School Feast Committee also donates a £10 book token to every child in their final year at Hepworth J & I School. All the organisers volunteer their time free of charge.
With no collections this year we would like to offer another way of making a donation via Justgiving. The funds raised will cover the feast expenses. Any surplus monies will be put towards a bumper event in 2022.
Thank you for your continued support to this community event.
