Story

My name is Hermione Kate Luck Bellamy. I have had a mild learning difficulty throughout my time at school which has made being at school sometimes difficult and often I can't really explain things they way that I would like and I find it difficult to be understood. Recently this little problem of mine, which is far more common than you might think, was given the name of Developmental Language Disorder or DLD. DLD was previously known as Specific Language Impairment or SLI. DLD is a persistent type speech, language and communication need that cannot be easily explained by an obvious cause.

I would like to raise greater awareness of DLD so that we can all learn more about DLD that will, over time, make my life and others easier through greater understanding. My teachers at school have been fantastic to me and I am so grateful to them and I want to do my bit to help bring further benefit to others.

In 2019, along with some help from my Dad, I am going to do a tandem skydive by which time I will still only be 14 years old. I am a bit nervous but I know that my commitment to my skydive might motivate you all to help my cause and others who suffer from DLD.
