Her Safe Start is a women’s advocacy support initiative created to help women and mothers rebuild their lives after domestic abuse.

I created Her Safe Start from a place of lived experience. I understand how overwhelming and frightening it can be to leave an abusive situation and suddenly have to navigate safety, housing, finances, children, legal processes and rebuilding your life — often with very little support or money.

Our aim is simple: to help women and children move from surviving to rebuilding.

We are raising funds to create an Emergency Support Fund for women and children affected by domestic abuse. This fund will allow us to provide practical, immediate support when someone is in crisis and needs help with essential items or urgent costs.

Depending on individual circumstances and available funding, this could include essentials such as emergency travel, food, toiletries, clothing, baby supplies, phone credit, safety items and other immediate necessities that can make a huge difference when someone is trying to reach safety or start again.

We know that leaving is not always as simple as “just walk away”. Financial dependence, children, housing, isolation and fear can all create barriers. Sometimes having £20, £50 or £100 at the right moment can be the difference between feeling trapped and having a safe option.

Every donation, no matter how small, will contribute towards giving women and children that option.

Alongside emergency assistance, Her Safe Start aims to provide emotional support, signposting, advocacy and connections to appropriate professional services, helping women access the support they need to move forward.

We want every woman to know that her situation does not define her, and that starting again is possible.
