Story

We are funraising this year towards the purchase of a Tovertafel Table. The Tovertafel is a little box that can be mounted on the ceiling, for instance, above the dining room table of a care home. Inside the box is a high-quality projector, infrared sensors, speaker, and processor that work together to project simple games onto the table. Because the colourful objects respond to hand and arm movements, residents get to play with the light itself.

This is a fun way to stimulate people with dementia to move more and interact socially. The table was developed for and with people in the moderate to severe stages of dementia. The interactive games break through apathy by stimulating both physical and cognitive activity and encouraging social interaction. Moreover, the Tovertafel creates treasured moments with family members and carers. These games are all about enjoyment and wonder!

We featured one of the tables our last conference and those who saw it agreed that these are an amazing piece of equipment that could play a large role in making a difference to the lives of many of our residents. But like all amazing pieces of technology Tovertafel Tables come at a cost. One table costs £6,500 and this jumps considerably when you add VAT. I’m positive that you will be in agreement that although costly, any piece of equipment that delivers a continuous ability to make a positive impact on the people we provide services for is worth every penny. We have already managed to raise £3,500 so far this year and are now looking to raise the capital to complete the purchase of one table.

If you can help us raise the extra monies that we need we would be extremely grateful.

Thank you.
