I've raised £1500 to help fund a growing LGBT+ Muslim organisation

LGBTQI+ Muslims often face the most difficult of environments. They are a minority (LGBTQI+) within a minority (Muslim) and often face discrimination and are ostracised from communities, families and networks.
To identify as LGBTQI+ Muslim is difficult for some out there. For some, they identify as LGBTQI+ and reject being a Muslim and for others, they identify as a Muslim and reject being LGBTQI+.
At Hidayah, we believe that you can be both which is why we exist. To give hope and become a lifeline for those that need us. And people do need us. So much so that since we started in 2017, we have had over 300 people come to our events and join us for Pride and other various events that we have run.
In just eighteen months, Hidayah has grown massively. We run events in London, Birmingham and Manchester and we are looking to expand to other cities and towns across the UK. Our growing team of volunteers have a wide variety of backgrounds - and we’re using our skills, expertise and experience to drive Hidayah forward.
Our goal is to raise £1,500 through our crowdfunding campaign from our incredible, international, intersectional community to help continue our efforts. This will help fund:
- Our expansion into another city
- Continue the work we currently do in London, Birmingham and Manchester
- Our social justice campaign in 2019
- Our presence in London, Birmingham and Manchester Pride 2019
- To buy resources and hire safe spaces to run events
Please support our efforts to raise £1,500 so we can pay for resources and pay for the safe hire of our rooms so that LGBTQI+ Muslims can meet and find a safe space to talk about their issues in an environment where others can relate to them. Your help is appreciated and will go a long way. Thank you for supporting Hidayah!
