Story

Unfortunately, our beloved horse Mollie passed on the 14th of November following a sudden and short illness. She became unwell with a serious case of colic. Despite the best efforts of the emergency vets and the team at High Mead who were looking after her, she did not recover. Less than 24 hours after she first became unwell, the vet advised that we had now exhausted treatment options and that the kindest and only option left would be to put her to sleep. With great sadness, we agreed.

Mollie’s passing was sudden and unexpected and has come as a huge shock to us all. She was a big part of High Mead and much loved; she will be dearly missed. During her six years with us as a therapy horse she made such an impact on so many people’s lives, the difference she made is immeasurable and we are so incredibly proud of her and grateful to her. She was a great source of comfort, of hope and of joy. She was also often a source of mischief, but I think that was all part of her charm!

The nature of Mollie’s passing means that we were not prepared for the significant financial impact to follow. On top of the cost of multiple emergency vet call outs we now also have the cost of her cremation to cover. We chose for Mollie to be individually cremated as we felt it was important we were able to have her ashes returned to us. However, the cost of this alone is over £1,000.

We are hoping to raise £800 to help towards covering these costs. Any contribution will be so greatly appreciated. Thank you.
