On Independence Day August 19th, 2021 a photojournalist friend of mine was struck in the leg with a bullet. We went as a team to capture footage of the protests demanding the return of the tri-color flag. We went uphill to get a good view point and as we were making our way down the hill, the Taliban started shooting rounds in the air to control the crowd of protestors. We started running downhill when my friend exclaimed he thought he might be shot. Luckily we reached the bottom of the hill and hopped in the car of protestors to make our way to emergency clinic.

His financial situation is unstable and uncertain and he’s in need of surgery now. And his family is struggling in these dire times as well. At the moment he's on a pending evacuation list to leave the country. These funds are going to cover his medical costs and his familiy's evacuation costs such as passport, visas and accommodation so he can make it safely and securely to a nearby country. A portion of it will also ease some some of the financial restriction his family has.
