Story

The community has expressed a concern that there is not a Defib unit in the village. After talking with community and local business there was a willingness to fundraise further and to invest in a such a unit. We have an aging population in Hillmorton and as such, a unit like this might be a godsend in the case of an ongoing heartattack and the arrival of an ambulance unit. However, that said, it's not unheard of for younger men especially to have heart attacks in their 40's. So it would serve multiple generations. The units are self directing and guide a user through applying the defib. We believe it is a peace of mind for business and general public and those using village amenities.

A General wellbeing and a feeling of safety is generated by the presence of such a unit. It would improve access to emergency provision in the local area too.

This project would improve access to a community resource - emergency health. We have no health services in Hillmorton so - it would add to the community assets - a few minutes of treatment from such a unit greatly increases survival from a heart attack whilst an ambulance is on its way. We have no unit of this type - so it would contribute to social amenities and access to services by ensuring an apparatus was available that would help in an emergency during for example a social event at Rogers hall or perhaps users utilising the shops in Hillmorton.

It's a long term investment and should be installed under guidance by RBC/WCC and Rugby First responders. The project is sustainable for as long as the life of the Unit. and would need only a casual monitoring. The long term impact of a life saving device is immeasurable.

Help us raise as much as we can - even if its a fiver - every penny helps.

The total cost of a unit is after VAT is £1000. A tamper/vandal proof housing unit is £450 and installation is circa £200. We have about £400 or so in the bank and are embarking on a fund raising drive. We are working with local pubs in Hillmorton - ask for Shelia at The Bell Hillmorton. And making grant applications in the local area too. Any business or charity which may wish to collaborate in addition - we would be very grateful for your help.
