Story
Family Spirit Child Care Centre was founded in 2002 by a group of people living with HIV/AIDS who were moved by the plight of children suffering after their parents died. While the impact of death was felt across the whole extended family, children were most affected as they were left vulnerable, defenceless and often abandoned. The Organisation provides a home to these vulnerable children. These include orphans that have no foster family; children that are victims of abuse and home violence; and children affected by war.
As a house, Hillside, is going to take place in a 24hr cycling challenge. We aim to cover a distance of just over 6,400km which leaves around 90km for each boy to cover. To cover this distance we are to use 26 exercise bikes in the tonbridge school gym which will be used continuously throughout the time period.
As a house we are organising this challenge as, not only because the Family Spirit Child Care Centre is our house charity, but, also because they need our help. Previously, the centre had one way in bringing in reliable sustainable food, which was their farm. However, the farm was vandalised during August and September 2017, which means that they are currently unable grow the crops. The vandalised farm led to the children not getting proper nutrition.
So as you can see from the compelling story above Family Spirit need our help; so as we get behind our bikes please can you get behind your wallets and help us help them.
Thank you,
Hillside
