Story
Hilltop is a school for children with severe and complex learning difficulties. We are trying to improve our outdoor space to enhance the outdoor learning opportunities and experiences for the students of Hilltop school. During the lock down it has been increasingly difficult for some of our young people as we are not able to use the local community and lots of opportunities to be outside have been restricted. We wish to provide an exciting space for our students to have fun, learn, develop and express themselves in a way that they are unable to do in a class room
On Friday 2nd July, we will be holding a 5k Super hero sponsored walk. This will involve the whole school coming together to take part in a fund-raising event for our outdoor provision. Students and staff in each class will walk 5k which will take approximately an hour. We have 19 classes in school meaning that all together we will have walked an incredible 95K.
The current financial climate for schools is very difficult and the money the sponsored walk will hopefully bring in will be hugely helpful this year to help the school fund improvements to outdoor facilities. Here at Hilltop school we recognise the importance of outdoor learning and the unique opportunities it provides our students. We believe that all children and young people have the right to experience the exceptional nature of being outdoors and that we enable our pupils to use the outside environment as a context for learning and development
