Story
The Pelican Project was set up in 2017 with the aim to help integrate disabled young adults (Pelicans) into the community by offering support to families that needed it most. Giving a chance for special people to take part in activities, they wouldn’t usually be able to do, including: visual arts, music, drama and dance. Providing this support and provision for isolated young adults is extremely beneficial as the opportunities for “Pelicans” is greatly reduced once leaving special education and have to rely on external support from charities such as The Pelican Project. Holding this charity very close to my heart due to personal experience I want to give something back, so they can continue to provide this essential help to all those that need it.
With the aim to raise as much money as possible, on the 18th of February 2021, HMS MONTROSE ships company are going to run a 24 hour WODATHON fundraising event, which will comprise of a Workout Of the Day on the hour every hour for 24 hours.
Whilst currently deployed on operations, this will push some of the toughest athletes of HMS MONTROSE to the limit and will be a feat to be massively proud of. All ships company will be encouraged to take part and support throughout the day wherever possible!
Donations to sponsor these committed athletes will be greatly appreciated and go towards a very worthy cause.
The Pelican Project organisation helped to support my family with my sister before she passed away last year. Here she made new friends and managed to take part in new activities that she had never tried before, as well as take part in ones that she loved and adored. The times she had with this professional team of people gave her quality time that as a family we could not always provide. This is why I want to give something back. A thank you. On the 18th of FEB, my sisters birthday, I am going to push my body to the limits along with many other of my ships company to try and raise this fantastic cause as much money as possible. After a tough period due to COVID-19, donations will help The Pelican Project massively and could help benefit other young adults that are in the same position my sister was. So I plead for your support. THANKYOU!
