Story

Hi lovely people. As many of you know of my passion for Hedgehogs grows every day as I study these unique little creatures and do what I can to help the Holderness Hedgehog Hospital. As a christmas gift to the hospital I would like to buy a much needed medical suction pump.

The pump is vital especially in the summer months to help remove flystrike off of hogs quickly and efficiently. Flystrike is a painful, sometimes fatal, condition caused by flies laying eggs on another animal, which hatch into maggots and eat their ‘hosts’ flesh. If any of you have seen this it is heartbreaking, if immediate action is not taken the poor creature is basically eaten alive.

Often we receive hogs in advanced stages and our only option is to rush them in to put them to sleep. I personally have had several at my door with flystrike. This pump is a lifesaver and a must but it is expensive, the alternative is removing each and every egg and maggot by hand which can take several hours and can stress out the hog.

I know it is christmas and everyone is tight but if you are able to please can you donate even £1 for us to be able to purchase this fantastic piece of equipment, be completely grateful! I will personally make a donation towards this, if we raise over the amount we will also purchase extra tubes etc.

Merry christmas to you all!
