Story

Restart Africa is a charity that offers rehabilitation for street children giving them vital care and education. Restart is in GilGil, just down the road from the school where Olivia and I spent 4 months earlier this year. We visited Restart many times with our friend Victor who is very much involved with the charity and we decided to raise as much money as we could for them once we returned home.

That's where you come in! The children are often found on the street where they have been left by their parents or are driven to the streets to escape from abusive parents. Most of the children have suffered severe, often sexual, abuse and deprivation, all have significant emotional issues.

The brave and happy nature of the children had a great impact on us both and we left very much inspired to do what we can to help the charity flourish further. With no funding from the Kenyan Government, Restart relies solely on donations. With over 100 children to provide food, education and a place to live the maintenance of such an incredible institution costs £200,000 per year. This is why our help is so valuable and will make a real difference.

We hope that the money we raise will be put forward to building a new classroom. Of course, any figure will be greatly appreciated but we are hoping to raise around £500.
