I'm going on a 3 week long trip to Sri Lanka in order to help preserve the environment as well as supporting local schools and children around Hikkaduwa.
The first week of volunteering consists of helping the environment through rainforest replantation, river and beach clean ups, assisting in a local turtle hatchery as well as an animal hospital which particularly focuses on restoring animals back to their health and releasing them back into the wild.
The second week of volunteering places an emphasis on encouraging the local children to develop skills in English. The assistance of Travelteer volunteers allows the children to expand their abilities in all fields which will help them to gain employment prospects later in their life - this will improve their standard of living overall.
The amount I aim to raise will cover the cost of my flights as well as an amount set aside to donate to Travelteer, the charity providing this opportunity.
