LAUREN

Lauren is now 33. When she was 24 and Eden (her daughter) was 6 months old she was diagnosed with ocular melanoma which was treated with radiotherapy, which worked. However because it was close to the optic nerve there was a chance it could spread to her liver so she was put onto life long liver scans every 6 months. In June this year her scan showed some lesions. Lauren was fast tracked to Addenbrookes who did further scans and a biopsy which showed that the melanoma had spread - liver, lungs, skin and lymph nodes (stage 4 incurable melanoma - although shes adamant she has it in her to prove them wrong 😘💪). She has had 2 immunotherapy treatments so far but treatment has been paused for now because Lauren was quite poorly with side effects. Lauren has just received her latest results which show some tumours have decreased in size!

Macmillan provides services for people living with cancer at every stage of their cancer experience. They are here to provide emotional, practical and physical help. They are 98% funded by voluntary donations, so fundraising is essential to make sure they can deliver the vital support people living with cancer .

Lauren has been using Macmillan since her diagnosis.

The money that is raised will be split between Lauren and Macmillan Cancer Support. Lauren has had to reduce the hours that she works due to her condition and any money raised will go a long way to help her with her needs during her ongoing battle.

My husband has recently undergone surgery to remove cancerous cells from his mouth….. and looks like he has the all clear….. hearing about Lauren made me appreciate how we don't know what is around the corner and how much we can all help.
