Holly's 1,000 run chase

With so much suffering at the moment, I feel it's about bloody time that I got off my scrawny little backside and walked the walk not just talked the talk. My aim was to complete an unaided walk of 800 cricket runs equating to 10 miles by 14th July. By last weekend, I thought that if I gave myself an extra push, I shouldn't give up and I should try to reach 1,000 miles, so like Forest Gump I've just kept on walking. I will complete this 12 mile run chase by 2.30 on FRIDAY 17th. Then I am most definitely pulling up stumps!

All monies raised will be distributed equally immediately upon receipt.

Why? Like so many places in the world, For Hermanus and in particular,, in Zwelihle, life has been turned upside down by Coviid and its fallout. It is causing untold misery to many thousands of innocent people who cannot work because of lockdown and who are suffering terribly. With no money comes no food, no medicine, no clothing and zero ability to prepare for winter for themselves, their children or elderly relatives living with them.

I have chosen 2 charitable organisations. Their work is more imperative than ever at the moment. Here are synopses of both causes .

The early childhood centre in the Hemel-en-Aarde valley cares for about 50 children. Recent weeks have been spent sanitizing the prmises while awaiting a date for reopening which it is hoped will be the beginning of July. Every child will be issued with masks and face screens, and each child will be well fed with two hot meals, kept warm and safe. To do this, they are in desperate need of funds.

FOOD4LOVE is an independent Hermanus based venture, Its mission statement is simple. "Our mantra is our name. It is a movement - an action to love,, be compassionate and be kind. It was born out of the concept of feeding those in need just for love, The movement is growing because love is the best medicine on earth. Since the Covid pandemic began, FOOD4LOVE has distributed over 300,000 meals! But to buy food, money is needed
