The members at Holmfirth WI have taken the current National WI Campaign - "Bystanders can be Lifesavers" - to heart and are aiming to raise £3,000 in 2026 to buy a new defibrillator for the Holmfirth area.

There are more than 30,000 out-of-hospital cardiac arrests a year in the UK and less than 1 in 10 people survive, with women having a lower chance of surviving than men. CPR & defibrillation can more than double the chances of survival.

By raising money through various activities and donations we are hoping to buy a new defibrillator for the Holmfirth area and/or female dummies for use in CPR training.
