99% of human deaths from rabies are caused as a result of transmission from dogs. Studies have shown that if 70% of dogs in an area are vaccinated, there is a significant reduction in the number of human cases. In July I will be part of an international team of volunteer vets going to Uganda to vaccinate as many dogs as we can over a 12 day period. Mission Rabies ask for a donation towards the project (this is separate from our flight and accommodation costs which we cover ourselves). Please dig deep - rabies is nearly 100% fatal but completely preventable!
