Story
Barely a day after launching this appeal, the Russian government declared war against Ukraine and invaded. We're adding updates as events unfold.
OUR APPEAL
Amongst all of the challenges facing Ukraine right now, let's not forget the basics of a long winter and life on the street without a home.
Just over a year ago many of our friends donated to help us support two homelessness charities, one in Ukraine and one in Cambridge, UK, to mark our 600th daily run. Your support helped a lot of people through tough times (over 300 hot meals in Kyiv for people in need).
By the end of this week we will have made 1000 days of running every day (OK, we are a bit crazy) and we're going to raise £1000 to give to the same charity Suka Zhizn in Ukraine to help their work.
Every year, the charity Suka Zhizn (literally "life's a bitch") collects “bags of warmth” for homeless people in Kyiv. They pack these bags with warm clothes and necessities: a torch, a thermal blanket, a rain coat and so on. They provide hot meals and some hope to people who are in the biggest need.
Recently volunteers in Kyiv gave winter gloves and warm trousers to a man living homeless. A week later he came back and said he managed to get a job as a street sweeper. He joyfully said: “You see, I didn’t sell those clothes, and didn’t disappear, and instead managed to find a job, thank you”.
Even a small amount of help can change someone's life for the better. A bowl of hot soup and some warm clothes may not seem much, but they can make all the difference. Thanks for your support.

Note - as in 2021, we will transfer the funds raised to Suka Zhizn in Ukraine via a support organisation named Ukrainian Philanthropic Marketplace (UPM).
