Bees are amazing insects and key to the health of our countryside. Vitally, bees pollinate our wildflowers,gardens and crops. Its rare to see our native honeybees in the wild. They need a leg-up from beekeepers

I've decided to do my bit for the honeybee and establish two hives. I plan to look after them in line with guidance from the UKs natural beekeeping trust.

I've bought one hive and salvaged another from a scrap heap, but don't have the funds to buy the queens and workers to start the colonies. (they cost around £140 per colony)

I'm looking to raise £250 to help fund two colonies and do my bit for nature and the honeybee. Any contributions, no matter how small, greatly appreciated.
