    Story

Hi, my name is Honor, I am currently studying Child Nursing BSc at King's College London. Next year I have the fantastic opportunity to choose an elective nursing placement for four weeks. I have done a lot of research, and I have been drawn to Dar Es Salaam in Tanzania with the organisation Work The World. The hospital in Dar es Salaam has a large paediatric unit which was the main aspect that drew me to this particular hospital. This experience will give me the opportunity to broaden my knowledge of illness and disease that I would not generally come across in the UK. I also hope to better my clinical skills while working in an environment with minimal resources. Supporting family members is also an essential part of child nursing, and I feel that by working in a hospital with significant cultural and language differences will help me to appreciate nursing from an entirely different perspective.

Work The World, who are organising this trip, is a reputable, safe and reliable organisation used by many students all over the world. They craft healthcare electives around the world tailored to individual interests. Coming from a decade of experience sending thousands students abroad, it would be difficult to find a service this complete anywhere else. They take their social responsibility very seriously and understand that they have an ethical obligation to maximise the benefits of our placements and to ensure they have is no negative impact locally. They employ local people to run their programmes instead of expats. They purchase products and food from the communities in which students are based. They rent private accommodation from local landlords, and they use public transport whenever it is safe and convenient to do so.

I am hoping to raise a total of £3,000. £1,500 I plan to raise through fundraising events that I will organise over the next few months. The remaining £1,500 I hope to raise through sponsorship.

If you are able to sponsor me any amount it will be very gratefully received.

    Many thanks.

    Honor
