Story

We are fundraising so that Hope Children's Home can buy a piece of land to build their own home for 50 orphaned children in Bali, so they do not need to rent/lease from landlords anymore, which is an expensive and unstable living situation.

It means they can have a much more stable living situation, avoid increasing annual rents and put that money towards much needed items for the children instead, such as schooling, clothes, food, beds etc. It will also given them the extra capacity to take care of more children who have been abandoned.

Hope Children's Home provides love, education and care for abandoned children. Many have been left unwanted by parents, or by families who cannot afford to take care of them.

Tris, the 69 year old Balinese daughter of the original founder, is rallying the community together to build a new home on their own piece of land, just across from their school.

As she warmly embraces us in her big grandmother arms, we are reminded that she has single-handedly taken care of these children for all these years, with no government support. She relies on the goodwill of the community and tourists to donate what they can to keep the orphanage going. To the kids, she is also known as 'mom'.

Every child deserves to have a good place to call home...

Your donations - even just $1 - will go a long way in Bali. We can buy enough bricks and cement for one small room with just $60. The community is helping us build it...we are all pulling together to give these children their own stable home, free of rent/leases that increase every year. People are donating food, labor and time. Now, we need some help raising funds for the land and materials to build a solid home.

So, we invite you to join us in a GIVE IT UP TO GIVE IT OUT CHALLENGE!!!

I challenge you to GIVE UP one thing and donate that money towards building these children a home.

You can choose to give up something for just one day...one week...or even the whole month!

We chose this challenge to remind us how so many go without the privileges we take for granted on a daily basis...knowing we often have more than most, can you spare a little bit?

You could:

* Walk to work and donate your petrol costs

* Pack yourself a healthy lunch instead of buying it on the move

* Skip the greasy takeaway this week

* Skip dessert after your restaurant meal

* Choose some lower priced items at the supermarket

* Give up a bad habit, and donate anyway!

Me? "I'm giving up wine for an ENTIRE MONTH! For those of you who know me, well... that is going to be challenge!

GIVE IT UP TO GIVE IT OUT...and perhaps do something positive in your life too!

Funds will go towards:

* Buying a small piece of land opposite the current orphanage, building materials and food supplies for the children.

When we reach our target, copies of the transaction being donated will be posted so you know 100% is going directly to the orphanage.
