Damar, our name for him, was born on May 12, 2018, normally at Hermina Jatinegara Hospital, weighing 2540 grams and 45 cm long. We are so happy to have given birth to Damar with all its privileges. Damar has Apert Syndrome and Arnold Chiari Malformation. A rare syndrome we never heard before.

Signs of Apert syndrome :

Long head, with high forehead , Eyes bulging and hard to blink , The middle face is sunken, Abnormal joints of bones of the hands and feet (syndacty), with webbed hands and / or feet,

Symptoms of Apert syndrome:

Bad intellectual development , Can not sleep so snoring and stop breathing (obstructive sleep apnea), Recurrent ear infections or sinus infections, Hearing disorders , Heart problems, digestion, and urinary system.

Apert syndrome can not be cured. But surgery to repair abnormal bone connections is the main treatment. In general, surgery for Apert syndrome takes place in three steps:

Release of skull bone (release craniosynostosis). The surgeon will separate the normal skull bones together and the bones reorganized. Face bones advance. As the child grows with Apert syndrome, the facial bones become unimpeded and tend to "go" inside. The reconstructive surgeon will cut the bone in the jaw and cheek then bring forward to a more normal position. Additional corrective surgery may be necessary, especially when performed at a young age. Correction of the distance between the two eyes wide (correction for hypertelorism). The surgeon can take the skull bone between the eyes, then make both eyes closer together, then adjust the shape of the jaw as well.
