Story
. As a teenager living in Norwich, I have been increasingly aware of the problem of homelessness in the city centre which has risen tremendously. In the last four years it has risen from 250 to 400 people, these are of all age groups. In most cases these people have had to leave their homes due to domestic violence,(For the survivors of domestic violence the council are unable to rehouse them due to the fact that when they fled their homes they made themself ‘intentionally homeless’.) marriage breakdown, or mental illness. This is nothing to do with substance abuse which is normally a symptom of homelessness as a state of survival from the extreme amount of fear of not knowing where they are going to spend the night or even if it will be there last.
With the lack of funding within the city this dropping from £11.7m+ which was spent on homelessness and rehousing in 2009/10 to £7.1m in 2015/16. I know it is never going to be possible to rehome everyone in need however I do believe that we could help improve the quality of life for these people.
I am raising money so that this year as many of the homeless community will receive a christmas present including essentails
