Mahmoud Matar is a 34 year old Egyptian man living in Luxor who has just been diagnosed with cancer, possibly Non Hodgkins Lymphoma but a formal diagnosis has yet to be reached. He now has to wait two weeks for his follow up appointment where surgery will be discussed. Any money donated will be going to his hospital directly to pay for further biopsies, surgery to remove tumours, chemotherapy and hospital stays.

Mahmoud has been getting progressively more ill over the past 8 months but put it down to a weak immune system until around 3 months ago when he reached out for help from his doctor. He was told it was possibly an infection and given antibiotics but his illness continued getting worse.

He became too ill to work, therefore being unable to help contribute to his family including siblings living in the family home. He therefore cannot afford the medical bills needed for his potential surgery and chemotherapy. The health service in Egypt is not ideal, he is worried that he's not being treated seriously enough and that time is slipping by.

Two weeks is too long for him to wait, he is struggling to stand and is spending much of his time sleeping. Just under a year ago he was a very active man who visited the gym several times a week and was at the peak of fitness. He has lost a drastic amount of weight which is extremely distressing for his family. The heat in Egypt is unbearable for him and he has no relief from it which is not helping him physically.

I am his partner and we met two years ago and fell deeply in love. If I could I would give him whatever it takes to beat this awful disease which is destroying him, but I have nothing to give. It breaks my heart as our dream has been to marry soon. I have no family who are able to help and all I want is for this wonderful man to be healthy once again.

I am reaching out to ask for whatever donation you can kindly spare to help this lovely man have a chance at recovery. At only 34 it would be tragic for him to lose this fight when it's physically possible for him to get better. He is kind, caring, intelligent and has so many years ahead of him to be able to live his life happily.
