I've raised £5000 to donate to the White Helmets by swimming the Bosphorus

On July 22nd, Christian and Ollie will be swimming in the Bosphorus Cross Continental Swim under the team name, Bosphorus Vikings (... we both have some Scandi heritage). It will be a race from Asia to Europe across one of the world’s busiest shipping lanes; the Bosphorus strait of Istanbul. The lane is closed one day a year for this race and swimmers travel from around the world to compete, including Olympic gold medalists.
We are looking to raise money for the White Helmets, who are a volunteer rescue organisation operating across the border from where we’re swimming in Syria. These volunteers are the first to respond to emergencies such as barrel bombings, running towards the danger and not away from it. They are bakers, tailors, engineers, pharmacists who risk their lives to save others. Any donation you make (big or small) will got to a very worthy cause.
We have spoken to the White Helmets team and all of your donations will go into the Hero Fund, which supports in three areas:
-Covering the medical costs for the White Helmet volunteers who get injured
-Supporting the families of the volunteers who lost their lives in the line of duty
-Replacing the life-saving equipment that gets destroyed in airstrikes.
Thank you for your donations!
