Story

I have started this Crowd Funding to help a homeless man to restart his life as I have found him a job. He cannot hold this job if he has to return to the streets. He is a gentle kind man in his sixties, who has fallen on hard times. Despite his hard life sleeping on the streets he helps through volunteering, walking miles to help out where needed. He was attacked by a few men while sleeping on a bench in Canning Town. They set his head on fire and he suffered horrific burns. No one was arrested and the hospital discharged him back onto the streets. He would be dead if it wasn't for the help of LOLAS Homeless.

I want to use this money to raise a deposit, rent in advance for permanent housing and whatever is needed to ensure he can stay in work. When he was given the job, he was nearly crying, saying "now I can be normal". It's minimum wage and part time to start but it means the world to him. He will have a lovely employer and the continual support of the wonderful Lorraine Anne at LOLAs Homeless and her band of volunteers. If I raise more than needed it will go to support LOLAS. I will explore supporting benefits but these will not kick in, in time to help him.

See the information as follows on LOLAS.

I am a volunteer with LOLAs Homeless. It was founded by Lorraine Anne. We feed, clothe and house the homeless when we can. We use all our own funds, raising donations from the surrounding Community. Each volunteer contributes in whatever way they can to support and help the homeless in East London.

LOLAs placed this man and other homeless people in temporary housing until the 9th of April. This has been paid for by the local council under the Severe Weather Provision (SWEP), which was only implemented due to pressure from LOLAs Homeless as people were dying on the streets and our local homeless were ill with the effects of cold weather exposure. LOLAs will continue to support the homeless but we need all the help we can. Please support my Fund Raiser but please look up LOLAS on Facebook and if you want to help great. All help gratefully received.
