Story

A short film about Phoenix Radio

Big, big thanks to those who have given funding to us so far, some who are anonymous. Thank you so much. Over the years we have given a voice to the unheard, supported the unsupported, given airtime to thousands of community groups since we started broadcasting but are very close to becoming silent. This isn't about us losing our voice though, it's about the community losing a place to be listened to. We rely heavily on grants to keep going but once again we have been unsuccessful with another grant which impacts on us tremendously. As we have said, we are aware that in order to be successful with grants you are bound by the rules of the grant givers. We believe that it is important to nurture individuality and many people we support do not fit the remit of a grant but we never turn anyone away. This means that all the staff, volunteers and facilities are used to encourage and engage as many people as is possible but it also means that our overheads such as heating lighting rent and broadcasting licenses are not covered. The word community is as important as the word radio to us and over the years we have encouraged people who may not be considered 'suitable' for broadcasting to participate, as they reflect our town. These include people with Autism, Mental Health issues, people suffering from alcohol dependency, people with Parkinson's, early signs of Dementia as well as underrepresented individuals and communities. Please pass this on to anyone who can help. If you are a local business contact us to see how we can help you and your own good causes.
