Over the past few years St. Mary's has been the subject of a number of thefts. Metal memorial plaques were torn from the Garden of rest, lead has been thrown from the tower roof, the lightening conductor has been cut off. Most recently we have had a succession of thefts of Yorkshire Stone from around the West end of the church and other areas of the Churchyard (see below for the most recent damage).

We are working with the police and insurance companies to try and reduce these attacks and one thing that is being suggested is the installation of a CCTV system. We are trying to raise the funds for this and would be grateful if you could help us do this before the thieves return, as they most surely will. Thank you.

We are extremely grateful to our local neighbours for their extra vigilance and the local Police for increasing their patrols in the area.
