In Memory of Hugo van Zyl

Hugo van Zyl passed away on 22nd February following a very brief illness. His passing came as a profound shock to everyone who knew him, and the loss is felt deeply by all.

Hugo was an outstanding leader, a gifted and talented individual, and above all, one of the kindest people you could ever have the privilege of knowing. As Chief Technology Officer at Manx Telecom, he led with vision, warmth and integrity. But it was the way he made every single person feel seen, valued and genuinely cared for that set him apart.

Hugo was a proud and devoted family man who made the Isle of Man his home. He is survived by his beloved wife Eunice and his three boys, Michael, Abé and Liam, who were at the heart of everything he did.

In lieu of flowers, Hugo's family have asked that donations be made in his memory towards two things: to support Michael, Abé and Liam as they navigate life without their dad, and towards a bench in Port St Mary, a place Hugo loved, where his family and all who knew him can sit, reflect, and remember him.
