I've raised £2500 to set up a community theatre venue and give Hull Playgoers' Society a new home

Hull Playgoers' Society is the oldest (116 years) dramatic group in Hull, and recently assisted in the Beverley Gate reenactment.
They are applying to become a charity, but it's not a quick and simple process.
Over the years they have been self supporting themselves, whilst at the same time raising thousands of pounds towards local charities.
but they are now in danger of closing, which would be a real shame if this happened during City of Culture 2017
With a reduced rent from the City Council we are in the position to create a community theatre venue using a dissued social hall, where we hope people (young and old) will come in to learn new skills, build their confidence, and put on shows that everyone can afford to see.
We also plan to hold afternoon sessions where local writers will have the opportunity to perform their work including spoken word, prose, song and drama , while the audience are enjoying a cup of tea and slice of cake. Whilst at the same time give Playgoers' a home.
But unfortunately, due to the Society having to move 3 times in 2 years, they have drastically depleated their reserves, so we are looking for an injection of cash to enable us to get the venue up and running as quickly as possible.
Amonst various repairs, cleaning, painting etc, we also have anumber of windows to replace and the heating to get up and running, all of which carry a large price tag.
We are all volunteers working on this, so be assured all of the money we can raise will go into the project.
Everyone that helps will (with their permission) have their name on our wall of thanks within the building.
Big or small. your donation will be gratefully received, and you will be most welcome to come and visit us when we are open for a cup of tea and a look around.
If you know someone who would like to help us, please pass on this page to them.
Many thanks
