Story

You may have caught our online cabaret LiveStream, in July, which was a fundraiser for Water Aid and through that, we - with your help - managed to raise just under £3,000 for Water Aid - a fantastic achievement, and thank you so much to everyone who watched and donated.

However, now is the time for us to keep the home fires burning, because Hullabaloo Quire, like so many small, not for profit organisations and charities, has been financially disadvantaged by the covid-chaos of 2020. So on Monday, September 21st we are hosting HullabaCabaret, an online fund-raising event for our much beloved choir.

Hullabaloo is the Grande Dame of the community choir scene in Brighton - we’re 22 years old (we began way before choirs were trendy!) and during that time we’ve left no creative stone unturned in our quest to keep Brighton singers at the cutting edge of exciting choral projects! We’ve worked with folk gods and disco divas, we’ve sung all over the city - from local fundraising events to the Brighton Dome - we sing the classic and the contemporary, the global and local, the left field and right on! We’ve had over a thousand members throughout the years - some stay forever and some just pass through, but whoever joins Hullabaloo is given the choral journey of a lifetime with our Musical Director Kirsty Martin and her fantastic creative ideas.

Hullabaloo also sponsors the wonderful radio show, Vox Pop, and we would love to be able to continue - so this is an especially important fundraising event for Vox Pop lovers out there!

We are so excited to announce that once again we have a star studded line up of performers, known both locally and globally. All the performers are generously donating their wonderful talents and time to help us fundraise for Hulla. The cast list includes: Heather Peace , Lorraine Bowen , Paul Diello ’s Epicene, Alan Bonner , Esme Anderson, The Purple Shoes and Julie Jepson - with acts still being announced.

In all our HullaHistory, we have never hosted a fundraising concert just for ourselves. We’ve supported so many worthwhile organisations and charities over the years, and now it’s time for us to lean into the community and ask for your time and viewing pleasure, and any spare change you have - you know the old busking joke ‘if you have any spare change in your pocket, take it out, fold it up and put it in the hat!’

So - where and when? This is going out on Facebook premiere and Youtube on Monday, September 21st and you can get all the info you need from the Hullabaloo website https://www.hullabalooquire.org/ Please do come and support Hulla, and enjoy the cornucopia of splendour on offer!
