    Story

I am doing two runs to raise funds for Aphasia Re-Connect (Registered Charity Number 1176125). Aphasia is where people have difficulty with their language or speech, often as a result of having had a stroke. Aphasia Re-Connect does great work by creating a peer support network of people living with aphasia. They have groups and meetings and get-togethers which are incredibly inspiring. The charity has adapted brilliantly during the pandemic through Zoom and other means. But the charity is small and needs all the help it can get.

Why did I choose to support this charity? I have come across Aphasia Re-Connect, through Jane, my wife, who is a speech and language therapist, and seen and heard how effective their work is.

I completed the London 10km on the 25th July (no lasting damage!) and am now getting in training for the Windsor Great Park half marathon on 26th September. Really looking forward to this event, which is probably one of the best runs you can do.

Any support you could give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks very much.

Happy to relate that I completed the Windsor Half Marathon yesterday. Bang on two hours, which is not the fastest but very satisfying all the same. I am tremendously grateful to everyone who supported me and helped me reach my target. It was a big incentive as I made my way round the course, especially on the uphills segments. Thank you so much!

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported me. I have well exceeded my target, and can now set my sights on raising £2,000. Plenty of time for me to get in shape for the Windsor Half Marathon at the end of September, which is always a great event. I know the charity, Aphasia Re-Connect, is very grateful.

So, first of the runs completed yesterday, the London 10km. Was great fun and amazing to run with so many others through the streets of London. I am so grateful to everyone who has sponsored me - I have exceeded my target, which is amazing, but will continue to tap into people's generosity for such a good cause up to and including the Windsor Half Marathon, which takes place at the end of September. Keep training!
