I've raised £1000 to Fight Child Poverty in Schools

Is it too early to start planning for Christmas? Not if your plans include raising funds to feed families that may struggle over the festive season through our Hungry Hampers Campaign.
Every child should be able to feel safe in the knowledge that they will have enough food to eat. Sadly, this is not the case and the impact of the School holidays has a catastrophic effect on the children we support locally. That’s why we need your help. Every year children go hungry during the School Holidays so for the last 3 years we have raised funds to feed families for the 2 weeks over the festive season and beyond as part of our “Hungry Hampers Campaign”. This year we need even more support, with families struggling to make ends meet due to the Pandemic, cuts to benefits and lack of opportunity to work due the impact Covid is having on the capacity of a child to attend School. Whilst this may not impact all of us, we can do something about it and help support these families not only by providing food but also some of the things we may take for granted in our own celebrations.
Christmas has always been a time for celebration, however for some of the children we support there is very little to celebrate. “ There are over 4.3 million children living in poverty in the UK and over 1.7 million children are entitled to free school meals. Many of these Children live on our door steps.”
Last year The Education Network supported by Pertemps Network Group worked in partnership with local Schools in order to raise much needed funds to support families in need over the Christmas Period. We raised over £3,000 and were able to feed families as well providing additional support for many others in the local community.
This year the need is even greater with many families being negatively impacted by Covid-19, and we want to do even move to help. Just imagine if we all gave up that one luxury item we buy ourselves each Christmas. Take the “ Luxury Christmas Pudding” the average price is £7-£10 and often just gets forgotten about in the kitchen cupboard unloved and uneaten until we find it again when we are spring cleaning, or even until the following Christmas.
£7 could buy;
o Cereal
o Milk
o Bread
o Soup
o Sandwich filling
o Fruit
What would you rather spend £7 on?
