    Story

Changes Tamworth is a charity  to support wellness and recovery for people suffering with mental health issues.    It is a free non referral service. Funds are needed for the upkeep of the building, running costs and materials, to make it a safe and secure environment for its members.

The charity originally opened as Changes Health and Wellbeing in September 2011 but closed on 31st October 2016 after losing funding from the county council.

Thankfully for many members it  reopened on 12th December 2016 as an independent charity (officially reopened 6th February 2017).

The people who run the charity (Yvonne and Tony) are putting every effort into keeping this charity open in Tamworth as they have seen the devastating effects of them not being here and I have heard first hand about the work they do from them and service users.

Having seen first hand the service they provide and having learnt about the history of the charity I knew I had to do something to help.  So, when the 10 mile Cathedral to Castle run came up I entered.

This will be one of the hardest things I have ever done, being very unfit, aches and  pains from a spinal fusion for scoliosis and a compressed vein but I am determined I will get to the end

The run takes place on 8th April 2018, if you can come and cheer me on I would really appreciate that too.

Please help me keep that determination by sponsoring me as much as you can, all the money I raise will be passed to the charity and they and I will be so very thankful.

    Thank you.

End of the first week of training and up to 15 minute jogging time, nearly 2.5km. Back and knees seem to be holding up well so far but shin is causing me real problems. It is going to be so hard so please keep sponsoring and sharing to make it all worth it.

So, it has begun. A 10 minute slow jog round the block and local football pitch and I'm shattered! It's only thanks to you that have sponsored and those that hopefully will that will keep me going so I can help this fantastic charity. Please give generously. Although the run isn't till April I can send regular transfers to the charity to make sure they get that funding when they need it to help them continue their valuable work. Thank you.

Training hasn't begun yet but I will keep you regularly informed. I haven't run anywhere for over 10 years but this is something I had to do. Due to injuries and health of my own body this is going to be tough, but compared to what some go through every day this is nothing!
