Suicide is the biggest killer of men between the ages of 16 and 45. A tragic waste of potential and an unrecoverable blow to those left behind. Men, well, we just don't talk about the dark times, we are real men and we keep it hidden. But that's wrong, it's not how it works, nor should it be.

Andy's Man Club is a place where men can meet to help each other get through the dark times. Currently, there are twenty places to meet throughout the UK including our local branches of Dundee and Perth - we need more.

Some month's ago, Tesco staff in Dundee voted which charity should win a £500 gift card. It was won by PADS, a brilliant local abandoned dogs charity. Andy's Man Club came second. There were just three votes in it. That was stunning. Never did I expect so many people to vote for Andy's. It made me think, is there an unnoticed demand in Dundee? Is this why there were so many votes? A call for help or perhaps a call to arms, a call to action.

And action it will be. I want to replace the £500 gift card with £500 cash. On the 18th August 2019, along with 3,000 others, I shall be doing the 25 mile Dundee Kilt Walk in aid of Andy's Man Club. I will be wearing my kilt in true Scottish style.

Dig deep, let's try to eliminate this killer. When you feel buried, think on, this may be you planted. Grow and bloom.
