Story
Across the world, as many as 30 million people are currently being held in bondage, moved from location to location as victims in the lucrative global human trafficking trade. Human trafficking is a blight on the face of humanity. It destroys the lives of thousands of people and families, even as it pads the pockets of criminals with as much as £24,935,680,000 billion each year. When someone manages to escape the world of human trafficking, it’s a miracle, and when these survivors summon the courage to tell their stories, it’s nothing short of inspiring. Many victims of trafficking suffer from an array psychological health issues ranging from the experiences they have endured. This may include brutal physical and emotional attacks at the hands of their traffickers, dangerous workplace conditions, occupational hazards and general lack of quality health care. The mental health issues include, but are not limited to: depression, PTSD, panic disorder, anxiety.
Health issues typically tend to fester until they become critical, even life-endangering situations.
The victims often don't know what to do, or run to for help. Most of them turn to alcohol and other substances in order to cope with their problems. This in turn further harms their wellbeing and has an impact on them. My Aim is to work with the Council and GMP to support in the fight against trafficking and also to try reintroduce them back to their families where ever they may be.
