Story

My team are raising c.£20,000 to provide downstairs living for my colleague and friend Iain Clark.

Myself and colleagues in the Joint Inspection Team and friends that know Iain will be undertaking a two day long distance walk from.Bamburgh castle In Northumberland to Berwick on Tweed on the Scottish border, along the windswept coastal path in the middle of winter. We plan to do this 3rd and 4th January 2026. It's 40 odd miles.

Iain has been bravely fighting oesophageal cancer.and had an operation that unfortunately went wrong. As a result of complications during the operation has unfortunately lost the use of both his legs. As a result he is now using a wheelchair . Though ably supported by his wife, family, friends and carers he needs adaptations to his house to enable downstairs living so he can maintain his independence. Iain maintains an incredibly strong drive and positive mindset despite all his challenges.

It's currently not confirmed if this will be a garage conversion with bedroom and shower room or a through floor lift and bathroom conversion upstairs.

Any excess funds raised not used in the conversion will be split equally between Alzheimer's and MIND mental health charities equally.
