Story

Isabel (also known as Issy) is 8.5 years old. She is Sassy, bright, funny, strong willed and loves life. She attends mainstream school, has a great group of friends, Loves to be outdoors and enjoys craft activities. Issy participates and enjoys sport much she loves powerchair football and sit down ski.

Isabel has a condition called Spinal Muscular Atrophy which is a degenerative neuromuscular condition that means Isabel is unable to walk, stand, or crawl. She has some use of her arms and struggles with strength, Issy is a fulltime powerchair user. 3 years ago Isabel had spinal surgery to help correct her Scoliosis- this has really impacted oh how much physical exercise Isabel can access. causing contractors and more tightness in her hips and knees.

Isabel loves cycling, as a family its something we all really enjoy. Unfortunately this is something we can't access altogether, as Isabel doesn't have the strength in her legs to push the pedals, and wants just like any other child her age to ride a bike herself .

We have recently came across an amazing specialist bike that would fulfil and really give her great freedom and independence. This bike would be built just for Isabel, it is big enough that we can hoist her into, has supports to enable her safety, will last her till adulthood and the most amazing electrical device that offers some power to the bike. This means Isabel WOULD be able to maintain coming on a bike ride with her family. The added electrical element would provide Isabel with a little help to keep moving but would also give her all the health benefits of exercise and movement.

This specialist bike is very expensive and crowdfunding is our only way- We have approached charities but understandably after covid they too are struggling- So we just have to try to do what we can. We have to get this little girl the chance of riding her very own bike all by her self!!!

If you would like to donate or even just a share on social media - it will help so much to get Issy one step closer to riding her very own bike!!!
