WITH FUNDS RAISED BY ME AND ALSO A LOVELY UKRAINIAN GIRL IN GLASGOW WE HAVE NOW PURCHASED THE AMBULANCE PICTURED. WE STILL NEED TO RAISE THE FUNDS TO EQUIP IT WITH A FEW PIECES OF KIT AND GET IT OUT TO UKRAINE ASAP.
The first £1000 of this fundraiser was used towards the purchase of this ambulance so effectively we still need £1500
I am a volunteer patient transport driver for NHS and a qualified First Responder (FREC3) and i have already completed 5 trips going right into Ukraine with urgent medical aid and requested winter items donated through charitable organisations in Glasgow and Edinburgh.
Up until now these trips have been self mostly funded costing around £5000. Although i`m no longer in a position to be able to do this , having been so close to the front line and having witnessed the death and destruction , they are still desperately needed.
So far i have delivered 2 ambulance response vehicles and a 4x4 to hospitals and military administration inside Ukraine. I have developed some excellent connections inside Ukraine including the head of the military administration in Vinnitsia who will issue me a military pass on my return to travel through Ukraine without any problem at the numerous checkpoints.
On my last trip I met up with 2 volunteer paramedics who treat and extract critically injured soldiers from the front line back to Vinnitsa amputation hospital among others and currently use an old Vauxhall van with no ambulatory equipment , no real sanitation standard and patients are laid on a piece of cardboard on van floor during transport. They have very basic trauma supplies and equipment but do seem to manage to save many lives due to their will and determination. This ambulance vehicle would make such a huge difference to what they do and how they do it and give patients a much higher chance of survival.
With the equipment onboard and clinical environment this ambulance is a MUST for these paramedics as it will make their task so much easier and give their casualties a much better chance of surviving a journey to a medical facility.
The situation inside Ukraine is going to get so much worse in coming weeks / months especially for the soldiers and I can honestly tell you that even as it is now you have no idea just how bad it is out there for everyone.
WHY should you give to this fundraiser ? Because with this you can see what has actually been purchased and that the person ie me , is going to take it personally right to where its needed with no third parties involved in getting it there.
I respectfully and desperately ask you to PLEASE give what you can to help raise this money and get me back out there to save lives and make a huge difference to those who will benefit from this.
THE VEHICLE THAT NEEDS REPLACING IS PICTURED HERE ALONGSIDE THE VEHICLE IT WILL BE REPLACED WITH
Massive thanks to each and every one of you
