Story

Hi Everyone,

On Thursday, January 18th, I was sittian at home and scrolling through Facebook. I found a post from Strathclyde Police appealing to trace the relatives of Mr Iain Orr. I thout at First I was seeing things, as my Dads name is Iain Orr, but on reading the story I found out it was my Dad, and he had been found dead on January 14th in his home in Govan. I was heartbroken.

The background of the story is a long one, so I will start at the beginning. My Mum and Dad seperated whe I was 15. My Sister and I sayed with my Mum, but I kept in contact with my Dad, my Sister did not want anything to do with him and has not spoken to him since the day he left. The picture attached is of my Dad at my wedding with me. He was a part of me and my childrens lives, however, over the past 2 years I have not had much time to see him. This is because my Mum has been diagnosed with both Alzhiemers Disease and Dementia and I was caring for her until she was taken into a care home in Glasgow. In 2017, my Mums second Husband Jim Died unexpectedly, as my Mum could not do anything at this point, her illness was too advanced, I had to take responsibility for Jims Funeral and all the arrangements. Between sorting all this our and still caring for my Mum, I did not have too much time to visit Dad, but still got to see him as much as we could. I had not seen him since November 2017, I was so busy trying to arrange everything for Christmas and sorting out my Mum, then my 3 Kids had Christmas parties and Christmas shows at School to attend, and although I wanted to Dad to be part of our Christmas celebrations, my Dad did not particularly enjoy attending these things, and I didnt want to push it with him, so let it go. I was planning to go to see him this week, but the bad weather hit Glasgow and it wasnt safe to drive, so I put it off and was due to see him as soon as the Weather improved, and then I saw the post on Facebook.

As my other Sister was completely estranged from my Dad, I have sole responsibility for making arrangements for his final journey, and unfortunately he did not have any insurance or financial plans to pay for this. I am struggling financially with my everyday bills, and trying to make sure I can still do all the things I need for my Mum. I would ask anyone who knew my Dad and was planning to maybe send a card or flowers for the Funeral, if you could please make a donation instead, of if anyone would like to help give my Dad the send off he deserves, all the friends he had at the Reform Club in Govan and the Vital Spark Pub where he was a regular fixture, if you could help in anyway or even put a wee message on here about my Dad, me and Dad would appreciate it very much.

Thanks in advance.
