Story
The City of Glasgow Para Gymnastics squad have an ambition to represent GB in Brisbane 2032 which we hope will be the Paralympics to include gymnastics, but their ambition goes much higher.
It's time to inspire a global generation of young people to use gymnastics to prove to themselves and to everyone else that barriers are all in the mind. By 2036 we want competition for a Paralympic gymnastics squad place to be a battle between thousands!
The Scottish Gymnastics Para Gymnastics Team have been invited to Helskini, Finland from 3-5th October to take part in a Para Gymnastics showcase event. The 7 gymnasts (Harley, Scarlett, Iona, Millie, Zara, Sophie and Monica pictured above) all train at the City of Glasgow Gymnastics Club and are paving the way for the growth of this new international discipline! Any funds raised by this event will help the team with travel, accommodation for this exciting event and future competition opportunities.
Naturally, this takes money, and we have lots of fun challenges and fundraising activities planned over the next few months.
First will be the Kilted climbers charged up the nation's greatest mountain, Ben Nevis, on the 16th of August!
In the second mission, Zara Coote's dad Daniel, is undertaking a '100km in August' indoor rowing effort as part of the Concept2 Inc. 'Dog Days of Summer' challenge. The inset picture suggests he might need a shower by the end!
With a comedy night to finish things off this is a big team effort from the City of Glasgow Gymnastics Club - Leading the way in Para-Gymnastics.
So, if you have a couple of quid (smackaroonies) spare then please support this mission and be part of history 😀. Thanks all for the support so far.
