Story

Every £1000 raised will give one family the medicine they need to get through the Christmas period

A little bit about my little boy

This month marks four years since my little boy Billy changed the UK law so that CBPMs could be prescribed by a specialist clinician on the GMC register.

June 2018 we travelled back from Canada with his life-saving medicine. It was seized by border force at London Heathrow, prompting a national outcry.

Within days, my beautiful baby was taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition. Thankfully, the Home Office returned his medicine.

A first of its kind decision was taken by the NHS to pay for his unlicensed prescription and a number of months later, 1st November 2018 the law changed.

The Problem

Four years on, the medical establishment refuses to prescribe CBPMs via the NHS until their efficacy has been proven in clinical trials, and medical manufacturers continue to resist investing in the necessary trials.

The Result

Those similar to Billy, who benefit from unlicensed medicines, must turn to costly private prescriptions. These people are vulnerable and chronically ill patients who need help today, and I personally believe the situation to be beyond cruel.

Billy’s Letter

Every year around this time - my little Wizard and I sit down to write his letter to Santa. This year, I had to hold back the tears.

Billy’s Christmas wish is not for toys, an iPad, or a mobile phone. His wish is to raise funds to help his little friends access life-saving medicine such as his.

As I write this, new hope jumps off the page and pounces upon me as Billy reminds me - “Mummy it's forty sleeps until the big man in the red suit arrives. We have time!”

What can we do?

Billy needs your help. He cannot do this without you. Please donate what you can and share his letter with the world. We understand how tough times are for people right now, so if you can’t afford to donate, that’s okay… simply sharing this letter could make a world of difference. Please do what you can.

Every £1000 raised will give one family the medicine they need to get through the Christmas period.

We have time to make a difference. We have power to make a difference. So, let’s do it!

Thank you all in advance,

Billy & Charlotte x
