We are a volunteer run Community Food bank in York and have been operating for 4.5 yrs, supporting the most vulnerable in our community,. We shouldn't have to exist but as long as people need us we will be there. We operate from a shed in our garden and one anonymous person complained to the planning dept at the council 2 yrs ago. We have had many difficult discussions in the last 2 years but the outcome is that we now need to put in an application for retrospective planning permission. A wonderful architect Neil Brown from Brown and company did free drawings for us but we need to pay the fee to the councill for the planning permission application of £1000.
We are only able to operate due to the kindness and a lot of extremely hard work from volunteers. We operate on a shoestring and don't get any grants or funding so all our operations are via donations. We have exhausted all potential sources to fund this. It cannot be funded by CYC or through ward funding.

Please kindly donate so we can continue to offer this vital service to the community . This service is extremely valuable, hugely used and very much needed.

We are open 365 days a year and provide food and supplies to 100s of people in the community daily, struggling families etc. We also provide food parcels for free to:

- CYC social workers and local area coordinators for their clients
- CYC Targeted Intervention Services
- The Probation Service, the Police
-York Hospital, York schools
-we send to other Foodbanks and charities in York

If a valid application is not submitted in less than 3 months, the foodbank will have to cease, buildings removed from the site and formal enforcement action will be considered by CYC..
