Story
All about Jackie
Jackie is 69 years young. She tries hard to always wear a smile and is the person that everyone used to stop and chat to when she walked down the street. She is a much loved Nan to 13 Grandchildren and a growing number of Great Grandchildren who all adore her. She escaped from an abusive relationship many years ago but not before she suffered damage to her spine and is registered disabled. At first the pain was manageable but as the years went by it got worse until she is now unable to walk very far even with the aid of a crutch. Even with the morphine her life is one of continuous pain and worst of all, she is no longer able to travel to Oxford to visit her grandchildren.
The Problem
Jackie was recently admitted to hospital with crippling pain where she spent two weeks undergoing a barage of tests. She suffered all the needles, the proding and poking with great dignity, which made me very proud of her. But at the end of the two weeks she was discharged with a bucket of tablets and an appointment at the spinal clinic six weeks away.
At the end of the six weeks when she attended the clinic, the consultant agreed that the problem needed sorting and made her another appointment for the initial MRI scan. This he estimated would be in approximatly three months time. After the results are analysed it could be up to a year before the operation would be performed. After suffering so much pain year after year inflicted on her by a man who can only be described as a vicious, abusive animal, Jackie deserves better.
The Solution
The NHS we are told is on the verge of collapse and waiting times are getting longer. Sadly we can do nothing about that, it is a problem for government to tackle but I have come to the decision that the only answer for Jackie is to go private. I have a small amount of savings but not enough to pay for the operation so I am asking for your support and help by way of any donation, large or small, that you feel you would like to make.
I just want to give her her life back.
