I've raised £1000 to run the London Marathon 2022 and fundraise for the charity MRKH Connect

Thank you so much for visiting my JustGiving page. I am running my first ever marathon on the 2nd October 2022, and my aim, as well as to finish it on the same day! :-), is to raise as much money as possible for MRKH Connect, and to promote awareness for this small important charity. I have seen first hand the fantastic work and invaluable support this charity provides to women diagnosed with MRKH, as well as support to their families, from the first challenging diagnosis of the condition and throughout their lives.
MRKH (Mayer, Rokitansky, Küster Hauser) syndrome is a condition affecting 1 in 5000 females born with an absent (or underdeveloped) uterus, cervix and vagina. Born with XX chromosomes and functioning ovaries, MRKH is often diagnosed between the sensitive ages of fifteen and seventeen when periods don’t start and investigations are undertaken as to why. As knowledge and understanding of MRKH, and the support available, varies widely among GPs, nurses and doctors, that diagnosis can be much slower than it should, which can cause fear, anxiety and isolation where none should exist. MRKH Connect was set up to improve this and help to connect the community together. Registered as a charity in 2014, MRKH Connect was founded under the principle of connecting those with MRKH together and providing a safe space for those with MRKH to chat and share together. Whilst also providing support through resources, events and community initiatives for them, their families and for the public.
