    Story

The Commonwealth Games are in spring 2018 and include a marathon in Samantha (Sammi) Kinghorn's T53/54 class as well as a 1500m on the track. With the World track Championships being in July 2017 and the qualification window being the end of October we have targeted the Chicago Marathon on October 8th as the event to achieve a qualifying time at. Sammi has never done a marathon before so this will be a new adventure. In persuading Sammi it was a good idea her coach (me) promised to raise the money for the trip. As well as the marathon we plan a trip to the US Paralympic Wheelchair Racing centre in Champaign for a few days of training with some of the best athletes in the world. I am back in training and looking for sponsorship for the Kilmarnock "Roon the Toon" 10k on June 11th which will be my personal marathon. I haven't run for 27 years but am now in month three of my (slow) comeback! Any support appreciated and there will be a couple of random prize winners from all funders. Any excess funds will support equipment for new and younger athletes in our training group.

Renewing my commitment to running (very slowly) has already had health benefits as I have lost nearly two stones over the winter - unfortunately I'm not running much quicker!

Any support really appreciated -thank you.
