Story

The 2021 edition of the Humber Bridge Cycle Sportive has sadly been cancelled for the second year running.

Check out our story and the groups we support at:

Humber Bridge Sportive

Humber Bridge Sportive Facebook Page

Since 2014 our organising team has been committed to helping a wide variety of amazing local organisations, and through the generosity of our riders and sponsors, we’ve managed to raise around £80,000. This cancellation will mean the loss of thousands of pounds that we will be unable to feed back into community projects.

The challenge, which I am undertaking with my co-organiser, Andy Cawley, and founder of P.A.U.L For Brain Recovery, Paul Spence, is an attempt to raise some additional funds, and the aim is simple - to cycle from Morecambe to Bridlington in a day - 170 miles with 9,200 feet of climbing, and hope my 64 year old legs keep turning the pedals😂😂

We are planning to hit the road, on a day with sunshine, a significant tailwind, and no rain🤞🤞🤞, in the week beginning June 21st - there will be no battery power involved!!

All of the proceeds will help to fund some fantastic projects in our local area, so any contribution you feel able to give will be much appreciated, and will certainly be put to good use.

I will update our website with relevant details as soon as possible after the event.

Many thanks,

Ian/Syd

So today we smashed it!! A fantastic team effort saw us complete the 172 miles in 11 hours 1 minute. Thanks to your generosity, and that of local businesses that sponsored our event shirt, we are looking at a total of well in excess of £5,000👏👏👏 - won’t be doing it again any time time soon though😂😂

Following a frustrating 8 days off the bike due to a self-inflicted injury 🙈, I joined up with the the team yesterday to complete a successful 130 mile training ride - just need to persuade the legs to keep turning for another 40 miles and 3,000 feet of climbing and all will be well 😂. All set for the week beginning June 21st. Thanks for your support.
